Reasons for "orange peel" on workpieces of buffing machine
An irregular and rough surface is called "orange peel." The most common cause of "orange peel" is excessive heating or carburization of the mold surface, and excessive buffing pressure and time are the main causes of "orange peel."
For example, buffing wheels can produce "orange peel" due to the heat generated during the buffing process. Harder steel can withstand more buffing pressure, while relatively soft steel is prone to over-buffing. Research has shown that the time of over-buffing occurs at different times depending on the hardness of the steel.
Measures to eliminate "orange peel" on workpieces of buffing machine
When the surface quality is found to be poor, many people will increase the buffing pressure and extend the buffing time, which often makes the surface quality worse.
The following methods can be used to remedy the situation:
Remove defective surfaces, use a slightly coarser grinding particle size than the previous sandpaper, and then polish with less force than before. Use a temperature lower than the tempering temperature to relieve stress. Use the finest sandpaper for finishing before buffing with buffing machines, until satisfactory results are achieved, and finally, polish with lighter force.
